Well said, Hugh Re: The definitive HMS Queen Elizabeth model
Well said, Hugh!! So many models are just passable but we tolerate them anyway. I am thinking of an expernsive model of the NS Savannah that had deck colours painted in bright green (NOT Tri-ang!). This was very disappointing tome as I don't have the painting skills to fix it. This really put me off for an otherwise spectacular model. Still, I bought it as it was the best available of a favorite ship of mine. Incidentally, almost ALL of the SS United States models have the same wrong green on their decks. At the time these ships (Savannah, United States) were operational the deck green was a pale gray-green, NOT bright green. it was very close to what Tri-ang used on the Savannah however Tri-ang didn't use it on the whole deck, just the hatches. Too many times a manufacturer will use one or two photographs (usually B & W, too!)to establish the model and then it turns out wrong. Well, if we wait for a perfect one how long will that be? AND... most of us don't have the skills do put them right. I say accept it for what it is or move on and buy something else. Just my not so humble opinion. :>}
