The idea of "Jesus in his own words" reminds me of the widespread movement amongst evangelicals called "What would Jesus do?" If Barrie Wilson's interpretation is correct, then in most cases Jesus would denounce the "What would Jesus do?" movement, AND also denounce the attempts to use his words to justify things that are of very questionable Christian validity.
