Our best and worst were probably the same one, our 1st. But I'll give a general answer and a specific answer
In general I will say the best thing about the conventions is meeting the viewers. We make the show in this crappy little station and almost in a vacuum so to have so many people come up to us and talk about how they watch the show each week, etc, really makes us feel good. That's always wonderful.
The worst thing in general is not being able to shop the dealer's room too much and/or meet many of the other celebs cause we're at out table so much.
Specifically, the best experience was our first Flashback Weekend when I knew Tom Atkins would be there. I'm a huge Tom Atkins fan. The Fog is one of my favorite movies, love Halloween III, escape from New York, Night of the Creeps, etc. My first thought was "I want Tom Atkins to punch me on the show." I introduced myself to him,we talked a bit and then the Friday night he had seen some of our stuff on the Hotel TV and we talked some more. And then Sunday we asked him if he would do it. and he was thrilled to do so. So we did this scene were I was with Morgana (who used to be on the show) and I walk up saying "hey, it's Tom Atkins!" he looks like he's all nice and going to shake my hand, then hauls off and hits me. He hugs Morgana, says "Thrill me" and they walk off. It was awesome. And he even did two takes cause he didn't like the first! And all the while we had Charles Cyphers and Adrienne Barbeau on the sidelines cheering us on. Just awesome! And then we gave him a dvd. Tom emailed me about a week later, said he had fun, wanted to send me something. I gave him my address and he sent me a newspaper article about the local horror hosts in his neighborhood, said it reminded him of us. And we exchanged X-mas and Halloween emails for about a year or so after that.
Next up would probably be this last year when Zontar and I worked for Don Coscarelli (Phantasm) taping all their convention stuff for a (hopefully) upcoming Phantasm dvd behind the scenes stuff. How often can you say you did that?
Worst experience? Nothing too bad really. I can think of 2 and they aren't all that bad.
Two years ago, we taped Robert englund doing a bump for us. he had his Freddy voice and did a "I'm robert englund and you're watching the world of the weird monster show" or something along those lines. Which is something he rarely does but he did as a favor to us as we do so much for the convention. And then we learn our camera malfunctioned and didn't record it...but we couldn't ask him to do it again. Oh well, at least we all got pictures with him.
2nd...not so bad, but this last Flashback, we were next to George Romero. Which is awesome...except his line was constant all day and it completely blocked our table and a cpl of others from the rest of the walkers by. I even had a cpl fans email me after asking why we weren't there.
But that's about it. WAY more good than bad and this last year, besides our very 1st, was by far our most fun yet!
