Hi there,
Thank you for writing and watching Animal Cops Houston. The American Bulldogs that were removed from a property here in Houston caught the attention of the public in a considerable way. Our investigators inspect complaints on animals and conditions daily. Last year alone, over 13,000 investigations were performed by 8 investigators.
Previously, there had been complaints which led our Investigators to this location to look into. In the past the complaints were investigated and found to be minor condition problems, or animals that were in need of some veterinary care. The owner complied with all previous recommendations. Within a few months, another complaint came into the shelter about the property and sick animals, which led our team back out there to investigate. We found evidence that it was crucial to intervene immediately and obtained a warrant immediately to remove the animals.
The Houston SPCA rescued approximately 50 American bulldogs from this location. All of the animals were vaccinated and thoroughly examined for health and behavior. We were able to adopt out a few from our facility, but the ones that needed more resources then our facility could offer, were sent of to an adoption partner that we worked with in Las Vegas, NV. There, they would be able to continue their treatment, gain weight and be adopted out to a new forever family.
When filming the show Animal Cops Houston, there is a lot of footage that is edited. The company that films the show is based in England and is not a part of the Houston SPCA. The Houston SPCA does not have control of the editing process for the show.
We hope this information is helpful. Thank you again for writing and watching Animal Cops Houston.
