It has become somewhat common is this breed. Back when I first got into bulldogs, you never heard of such a thing. It is a recessive gene that hits in puppy hood. A dog can be a carrier of the gene and not be affected, but can pass it to offspring, and if bred to another carrier, the pups are more than likely to be affected with the disease. I have heard that it came from Hine's Country Boy, but I personally do not know that as a fact. It is worth having your dogs tested for it to make sure they are NCL Clear, Carrier, or Affected. It is a terrible disease. Here is a link on more information on it.
