I was in a similar situation to you. It all depends how much time and effort you devote to it and how quickly you can asorb the information and barring any incidents (personal, illness etc) that may cause you to take a break. I would like to think you would be out in 3 years if you treated it like a full time job. So in 2 years you will be 2/3rds through it. It's no penalty kick and I would suggest you go to the introductory talks from the Knowledge Schools which will help in answering any questions before you go to the expense of buying a bike etc.
