Hi to everyone [including those who cared enough to open and/or read this potentially worthless comment of mine].
For everyone who likes (or, for that matter, is every mildly attempting to appreciate; or somewhere in between) sbcc.org, or every if you hate this site—[ha! Just don’t be as ridiculous as the “hero”—Dr. Peter MacDougall acted in one “short-lived” incident!] –I do recommend reading the text on the link: “New Years Resolution: Keep Smoking” (on this www.sbcc.org web site) for some info, and “humor and some truths” (from my perspective, anyway—however distorted).
Especially, take note of the statements in asterisks.
---”Marijuana is getting obscenely expensive.” True. Supposedly, if you SMOKE it regularly, it causes greater lung damage, too. More mental effects, and a DEA Schedule I Controlled Substance under Federal Law. Under FEDERAL LAW, illegal to possess for MOST PURPOSES. Also, MERE POSSESSION of Schedule I Controlled Substances is listed as a “Health and Safety Code” violation. (Of course, having it in your possession is a danger to anyone’s health and safety). But I have heard that if you’re caught with less than 28 grams of it and have valid ID on you, it’s a $50 to $100 citation for first offense? In an attempt to “decriminalize”? I don’t know if that’s true.
---Yes, nicotine is an “upper”. It’s a mild stimulant—yes, it DOES improve awareness and reflexes. In fact, it is not unheard of for adults with ADD symptoms (both undiagnosed and otherwise) to be smokers.
---Yes, nicotine does aide in weight loss, as explained. (Sure, smoking is bad for the lungs and heart, but the point is to extol the benefits).
--“Smoking doesn't actually cause lung cancer - it only contributes to it. Many people who smoke will never get cancer, and conversely many people who contract lung cancer have never smoked.”
Smoking increases the risk for lung cancer. Many chronic smokers develop diseases such as emphysema and/or chronic bronchitis and/or have heart problems. Cardiac complications increase at greater risk with other factors aside from smoking, too (such as aging, inactive lifestyle, genetics, obesity, type of diet). Lung cancer risk factors more than simply smoking (environmental toxins, secondhand smoke, radon, genetics, firefighting).
OKAY, OKAY, sorry for my needless, wordy, wishy-washy rambling...
