I've never taken an economics class at SBCC, but I have to say, there are some outstanding professors in the BioMed department like Eric Wise, Mike Masson and Dr. Blake Barron. In the music department, Jim Mooy, Nathan Kreitzer and Dr. John Clark are all excellent. The philosophy department is probably the one I'm most familiar with because of my major. Joe White is probably the most engaging and entertaining lecturer you'll ever have. Jim Cheshire is also quite a good teacher, a good man and someone definitely worth having a discussion with. Marc Bobro is very sharp and well versed in the material he teaches (though his essay tests can be exhausting). Bobro often assigns essays that are to be only 1 page in length (single-spaced), but he expects you to comprehend the material and show that you understand it. Mark McIntire (whom I save for last, but only because he ought to have his own paragraph!) is really in a league of his own with respect to his passion for critical thought and teaching. He really challenges students to think dialectically (that is, to look at opposing viewpoints) and even requires students to refute their own conclusions as part of the class. This is a rare and effective approach to teaching critical thinking. I hope Prof. McIntire can continue to offer his unique talents to SBCC long into the future...
