Thank you for clarifying about the patronymic.
The descendants of Prince Rostislav and his 2nd wife have had vitually no contact with any of their Russian relatives. They consider themselves Americans.
Like many Americans, they acknowledge the country of their ancestors, but only in a historical context. The current members of this branch do not use patronymics and have been naming their children with notably non-Russian names, such as Heather and Chelle.
And to answer Steve's question without making another post, this branch was raised Roman Catholic, but some members have made other religious choices along the way.
To be clear: this all only applies to Rostislav's 2nd marriage. The descendants of his first marriage are indeed still Orthodox and have a much better connection to the larger Romanov family, even though not to their closest cousins in America.
