Yes I suppose the Nicolas line will loose out int he end. There is no obvious candidate than Maria. And by all means Maria is legally speaking in the right.
Even if one does not agree with this one should recognize that is was her father and grandfather who really represented the Imperial Family in Exile while the other family members did not do that at all. So I feel she carries the flag rightly - legally and morally speaking.
