County-based Head Start eval and IEP implementation
Posted by Deborah Llewellyn on May 10, 2016, 8:54 am
Our county is in the process of reviewing our contract with the County-based Head Start (we also have Head Start classrooms in some of our elementary schools). In your county, do your Head Start (county-based) students go through your county's preK Child Find program for screening and evaluation or is there a separate SLP/team that evaluates these students at the Head Start sites? Also, if some students are recommended for ESY services, do they receive services at the Head Start site (as they do during the regular school year) or do they attend ESY at one of the ESY sites in your county? If so, how are the students transported to ESY and back to Head Start (our county-based Head Start continues through most of the summer with only a 1-2 week break in August)? Thanks for your input.
