I have a preschooler who has goals to learn/use 15 new signs, learn/use 15 words, learn/use Proloquo device, all separate goals. I'm thinking that if you're using a total communication approach you model and show the child all 3, but then the goal would be for her to use ANY to produce functional communication/ For example, she could request toys using her device, but use to her words to request some toys, and sign simple signs like "all done". Am I right one this, or would you keep goals and push for her to use all of them? She also has Downs and CP and all of her signs are modified.
