I had a 3 year old this year that omited both (y) and (w) in the initial position of words. I had him start by adding a vowel to the beginning of the word then we faded the vowel. It seemed to work for him. I had him start /w/ words with a /u/ as in "you". /uwi/, /uway/. It seemed to help get his lips in the rounded position for the /w/. Good Luck
