I have a 4 year old repaired cleft lip and palate child that I have been working with since the beginning of this year-2x a week. He is also receiving 1x a week private therapy. He is making slow but consistent progress on his speech intelligibility goals. He also needs max encouragement to speak. His mom says that he talks more at home. His intelligibility, if context is known is approx. 30 percent. What would be your recommendations about teaching sign at this time? I have mixed feelings and needs opinions. Since he already tries to not talk would this give him an easy out?
