Hello all, I have a 4 year old student on my caseload who scored as stuttering in the 'moderate' range on the SSI; he has never demonstrated any secondary behaviors until recently. Now, he exhibits eye blinks/sqinting and starter phrases "okay, um... okay, ummm". Does anybody have suggestions as to how to deal with a preschool who is on the brinks of becoming aware & self conscious of his stuttering?
In therapy, we've been focusing on smooth vs. bumpy speech; rabbit vs. turtle speech; and we use a home-made pacing board to control his speech rate... does anybody have suggestions as to where to go from here? & keep in mind his associated/secondary behaviors?
I would appreciate ANY feedback! Thanks so much! Julie
