We kept having an increase of frontal lisps in students at kindergarten screening. After doing some research we found that the majority of these children were frequently using sippy cups which tend to promote that forward tongue movement. We provided information to those childrens' parents on speech production and suggested using straws instead of sippy cups. I always have some handouts for correct /s/ production with me at the screening and if the child is stimulable and the screening situation allows for it, I provide a quick demonstration to the parent and give them the handout. I have included a child in some of my sessions as a "speech buddy" to another child that may be working on the /s/ to provide indirect intervention.
