cut out or print from boardmaker pictures that fit these categories:
things (nouns)
places
people
these are the basic categories for what (things), where (places) and who (people).
sort-using what, where and why
if child makes a mistake I say "where is a place"
after child sorts ask questions
What bounces
where do you eat
who puts out fires
If a child answers incorrectly, i say "remember-who is a person...WHO puts our fires"
i have tremendous success using this strategy
