Thanks for the response. that is typically what I do, too-I am too afraid of angering the parent. Sometimes, if I strike up a conversation, I might mention I am an SLP-and see if the parent "bites" on that. My husband says I have a "tell". he always knows that I hear something in a child's speech when I ask the child "so how old are you??" He knows I am calculating age and speech sounds in my head
