I am curious if you ever approach "strangers" to refer a child for speech. I was at my doctor's waiting room and a woman had her almost 3 year-old daughter there. We talked for awhile about this and that-but elephant in the room was that her child (IMHO) has a very severe phonological disorder. I maybe understood 1 word in every 10..and I needed the context for that one word. Looking back, I wish I had asked her if her child was in speech or if speech was being monitored-but I didn't. I was just wondering if anyone approached parents of children with obvious "speech only" issues in a situation like I described.
Don't get me wrong-- I don't plan on patrolling supermarket aisles for kids...but since i had struck up a general conversation with this woman I feel like maybe I should have said something.
