Use songs and poems using "I" so they practice saying it over and over. Since it is part of the poem, they are not generating it and follow along naturally. For example, using a picture of a tree and apple magnets (or a similar manipulative), chant this poem.
I love apples, yes I do.
I love apples, how about you.
I love apples, yum, yum,yum.
I love apples, I'll eat one.
(take an apple off and repeat)
It gives them the appropriate context and practice.
