I have a preschooler who is very unintelligible. His main error is that he deletes initial and medial consonants. He is able to CV words but when I do CVC words he includes an initial consonant but it is not the right one; however, he does use consistent errors. His mother is very involved and I want to make sure that I am on the right track. During cycles is it okay that he uses the wrong initial consonant, right? Also, should I be concerned that this may be more than a phonological disorder? He can imitate oral movements and can say the right sound with a lot of prompts/cues and using a pause between the first sound and the rest of the words. The previous therapist was using more an apraxia approach but there was really no progress made. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
