Here's one ex. from when I worked in the STARS (Autism) preschool classroom. Your pair could play the ELEFUN game...the one that butterflies come out of the elephant. You could do My turn cards/pics to decide whose turn it is to turn on the elephant. After they and YOU collect the butterflies, you model a scenario where you verbally share what each "found" or "caught" "have"(depending on verbal level). EX: I caught 3 butterflies (or flies). or I found blue. or "blue" or "mine!" and hold one up. You share by modeling looking at and showing eachother what was caught in the nets. There is often some shared excitement and "fun" when the elephant shoots out the butterflies so you could target comment words like FUN, or feeling words like HAPPY. Then before sharing model "We had Fun" , with eye contact to each, then encourage them to orient to eachother and express FUN. Once the pattern is established, it can be a great game to bring out once every couple of weeks.
Not sure if you have this opportunity but...if there is ablended or developmental preschool in which you have other s/l students in the building...you could bring in a child that has decent social skills and pair that child with one of the students with Autism and do the activity. I did that several times with success.
