I am going to be pushing into my pre-school classrooms this year, and I was thinking of teaching the concepts from the LiPS program (Lip Poppers, Tongue Scrapers, etc.) I would eventually work into identifying where in a CVC word the Lip Popper falls (beginning, middle, end), then segmenting sounds in CVC words, and then I'm not sure where I'll go after that. The problem is that I don't actually have the program (none of the manuals, pics of the mouth, magnets, etc.) It is a very costly kit, so it isn't likely my district will be able to get it for me either. My questions are these:
1. Has anyone used LiPS? If so, what did you think? I have a basic understanding of the program from several years ago in grad school where we *sort of* followed the program with some kindergarteners.
2. Does anyone know of other similar pics I could get my hands on of the mouth which would cost less than the LiPS magnet kit?
Thanks!
