I believe ASHA has a position statement on diagnosing Apraxia. If I remember correctly, they recommend no dx under the age of 3 years. You can describe what you see the child doing, i.e., groping, inconsistent vowel production. They also have a list of characteristics associated with Apraxia. Hope this helps.
