I agree that keeping boundaries is imporant and necessary. I'm not sure if keeping him at the table for 20 out of 30 mins is going to be realistic at first. It might be something you work up to. If I were you I might have a variety of toys and activities and be prepared to change activities every 3-4 mins at first, maybe even sooner. Is there anyone you can cotreat with? OT? PT? I have a 3 year old autistic boy who is nonverbal and we couldn't get him to sit anywhere. I had the OT hold him and do some deep pressure and then I was able to get some AT work done with him during a book activity. We found that with pressure or movement he was able to focus more on the language. Good luck and have plenty for him to do.
