Hello fellow SLPs. I need advice. I have been treating a 4 yr old with a language delay for the past year. He is fine receptively. However, although he can imitate 3 word phrases, whenever he spontaneously talks, he just jargons or babbles incoherently. He is friendly and has a desire to talk. I feel so helpless and am thinking perhaps I need to change to a PECS system for him to communicate. I sent home a disposable camera for mother to take pictures of his favorite things which at least will help him communicate at home. Truth be told, I am v. overworked (like us all!) This little guy has slipped under my radar and I would really appreciate some help. Is PECS the way to go?
