When I worked EI kids loved simple things sorting pompoms with plastic spoons or tongs. You can work on colors, matching by putting them into cups and in and out. A wonderful Early childhood educator I worked with took a coffee can, split the plastic top and put tape on the rough edges. She then used canning lids. She used it for in, turntaking etc. I have used it for artic by putting pictures on the canning lids.
