I do functional language units and lots of pretend play - such as going to mcdonalds or the ice cream shop, or even the beach or the doctor - they have to request, name items, ask each other questions (what kind do you like?, what do you do at the beach, etc) make up songs while they're pefoming the actions [buying ice cream]
