I am working with a preschool girl. She is very unintelligible. She exhibits final consonant deletion for many sounds which we are addressing and improving on. She is even able to produce the /s/ in the final position with a model. However, I cannot elicit an /s/ initial. I know this is young to work on this but it would contribute so much to her intelligibility I feel compelled to work on it. Initially it is a complete omission. I don't see any reason why she wouldn't be able to produce it physically since she is able to put it in the final position. Maybe coarticulation would work but any suggestions of how to make that interesting to a preschooler?
