A Standard Score of 88 is within normal limits.
His grammar sounds a bit delayed but not that far off from typical development. Tell mom every child is different and there is a range of typical scores of normal development (SS 85-115) and he falls within the normal range. Have her model the correct sentence structure and offer a forced choice to help in his language development. Just my initial thoughts...
