I am a new therapist in my CFY year working with preschool children in the public school. I have a 3 year old who has been in our program since the first of the year and he will not talk in class or in therapy. He will only whisper very softly and lately he has not even been whispering. His teacher is getting frustrated. We did a home visit and he still would not talk while we were there, but his mom showed us a video of him counting and spelling his name and talking up a storm. I have tried seeing him one on one and just playing with him to try to get him to feel comfortable with me. But at this point nothing has worked. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
