I need some ideas! I have a little guy I'm seeing in EI who has absolutely NO attention span. He has a big delay in receptive language. He imitates everything, but understands nothing. He doesn't respond to questions, identify objects, etc. He doesn't understand what "NO" means. He is constantly bouncing off the walls and it is very difficult to get him to complete any therapy activity. He is waiting to receive an OT eval, but for now, I'm all he has! His parents put him in time out when he hits or doesn't listen, but he really doesn't understand what he has done wrong. They have him sit in his high chair at the table so he can't get up. I'm trying to think of some other system they could set up that gives him an idea that certain behaviors are bad and if he does them he will go to time out. Does that make sense? A visual cue or something. I just don't really know what to do. Any suggestions?
