I could use some activities/ways of expanding a child's language skills. So far, he will not label pictures...shuts down when anything "Speech" related comes out..OK So we play...I try to get him to repeat/expand his language...I have brought my own toys, I try to play with his....6 sessions now and very few interaction with me...he is "speech only" and I really believe that expressive language is his only delay (so no hidden diagnosis here). Mom tries to help but really he avoids me all together...and won't talk to here much when I am there...
here's the next issue...Dad calls me after every session to see how it went and what he can do to help child increase skills...so every week
I sound like a broken record...keep expanding language...please require him to use words to request...try for 2 words to request...imitation if needed...
I need:
1) specific ideas to give parents (specific activities they can do or at least a new way to phrase it!)
2) ideas for me to help get him to interact with me...
