I would just focus on establushing rapport for the first couple of sessions getting to know the child. Bring whatever toys you have such as a ball, bubbles cars, trucks, etc and just let the kids play with them. You can informally assess what they know based on if they can label the items, take turns playing with them and follow any directions you may have. Just play with the kids. If all else fails, blow bubbles. That's always a hit and you can elicit a lot of language. HTH!
