Oh! Foolish bands of Unforgiveness, What right do you have to exist? Burdening the day....darkening the way. Subduing my Joy with heaviness. Oh! You that hide my Love beneath the weight of animosity And bind the eyes of Wisdom with scales of foolishness And ignorant ferocity! By what authority do you reign? My God reigns! Be Gone! Your sharpened fangs will no longer puncture my heart! Your fattened lips will no longer sneer Lies! Or your burning tongue send forth flaming barbs... That separate and tear apart! My God reigns! NO MORE! will your coils squeeze breath from my Life! Nor your slithering travel spoil my day with your strife! For LOVE Covers a Multitude of Sin; seeks PEACE and Pursues it. AGAIN and AGAIN! LOVE clings NOT to wrath but holds it upto contempt! Nor does it dress in self-pity like a poor forlorn wretch! LOVE hides and DOES NOT SEE many mistakes...but REMEMBERS CHRIST...and EMBRACES with Compassion's Mighty strength! My God Reigns! This poem was written by Phil Muller.
