It still seems like yesterday to me.
You know, Warren, that's not a new thought. Energy does, indeed, dissipate, but doesn't just disappear. It lives on in a kind of 'cause and effect' cycle.
As romantic as it may be to reflect on LD's energy, remember that we're all creating some every day (for better or worse!)
I can't argue with you on his eternal influence, though - there have been some other great musical moments for me that have challenged Lonnie's supremacy for a while (Ray Charles, Buddy Emmons come instantly to mind) but, because I was SO young when I first saw the Lonnie Donegan Skiffle Group way back in 1957, nothing will ever eclipse the thrill of it all.
Thanks for remembering the date for us all.
(By the way - how old are you, Warren?)
