I've just spent the last week re-reading the Spencer Leigh book on Lonnie. I must admit when I first read it several years ago I skipped a lot of the early stuff about the old blues and folk singers to get to the Lonnie Donegan story. This time I took more of it in which made me look on Youtube for any Leadbelly videos. There is only one, a nine minute clip in colour from the forties where he sings "Pick a Bale of Cotton", "Take this Hammer" and hums "Black Girl". I expect most of you have seen it but for those that haven't it's at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSkm6SlIqvg
What's the verdict on Spencer's book, I see Roger says it has it's merits which may mean he has some reservations. I think it's OK despite a few errors and I don't think we're going to get anything else.
