Roger may have been subliminally influenced by the original record label which used the spelling "coolie", which was repeated on some later compilation albums. Woodie Guthrie wrote and sang about LIGHT aluminium which Lonnie misheard in his early days as white aluminium, and although in later years he knew that it was incorrect he continued to use it because that's what both he and his audience were used to. There can't have been too many hit records that referred to manganise can there? Cisco Houston recorded a version which included some excellent extra verses. Fiona- if you google "Have a Drink On Me Lyrics" you'll find what you want easily enough- on the one I just looked at I learned that it was covered by Rod McKuen. It was of course (co)written by Peter Buchanen who I hope intends to revisit this forum soon, and as all forum regulars will know (though Fiona may not) it was based on an older song called "Take a Whiff On Me" which referred to, er, class A substance abuse.
