I had no idea, Dave - so does that mean ALL his singles after January, '56 were available as 7" 45s? I can't imagine I'd have bought a 12" 78 if a 45 had been an option.
Hi, Mel! I also had no idea that Lon was a Wodehouse afficionado. I thought PG was the greatest champion that the English language ever had, and I recall LD saying on occasion how much he cared about such things. Of course, that isn't borne out by his oft repeated phrase, "This 'ere's the story...."
For those unfamiliar with his works, the Oldest Member was a fixture in all of the many Wodehouse golfing yarns. PG clearly loved the game, but saw its funny side (I wish I could!!!), and each story would either start or finish with words of wisdom or guidance for the younger set in matters of golf - or the heart - from the venerable and sage 'Oldest member'.
I'd have liked to discuss my favourite 'Wodehouse moments' with my favourite singer!!!
I'm not sure when we'll next be in England - Susie feels as though she's 'owed' a trip, seeing as I was over in October for our last tour enjoying myself without her, so I imagine it'll be sooner rather than later! I'll be sure to be in touch. I was fairly restricted during that tour, not having my own transport.
Now - about this 'age' thing......
It seems as though most of you are just boys on here!!!! 60, 63, etc, etc???? I made my first appearance in March of 1943 - am I the Oldest Member?
