Sorry, Paul - I don't have the answer to that one.
I can tell you that Pye were pioneers (or should that be 'Pye-oneers'?) regarding the flexible - or unbreakable - 78 rpm record. I distinctly remember all the hoopla about it in '57 or so. Lonnie's singles were the first, but I can't swear to which one it was.
They were also much lighter than shellac, so I bet transportation costs were a consideration.
I haven't kept my singles, I'm afraid. I still have the EPs and LPs.
Another good question - which of Lonnie's singles was the first to be issued on a 7" 45?
