Like the rest of us on this forum, Dave has been a Donegan fan from day one and I first met him at a Donegan gig around the early 70's. He'd been around before that and Lonnie knew him but somehow I'd never met him. We quickly became good friends and I have always been amazed at Dave's vault of Donegan information he keeps in his head. Even Lonnie would seek confirmation from him about recording dates, record release dates and the like.
His record collection is second to none and he compiled the most comprehensive Donegan discography possible. He could almost tell you what colour shoes Lonnie wore when he recorded a certain song!!
Despite all of that, he's normal (!) and during my years with Lonnie, it was always a pleasure when Dave came to a gig. He's a gentleman of the old school and always prepared to help a Donegan fan, young or old, find a record or other memorabilia.
You'd like him Michael. I've never met anyone, musician or fan, with a bad word to say about Dave.
