Somehow Skiffle is hard to define, thatīs right. "What is Skiffle?" --- an old question.
The first book about Skiffle ( R.Bird, 1958 ) has given the perfect answer in itsī title: "Skiffle - The Story Of Folk Song With A Jazz Beat".
But for me Skiffle is Lonnie Donegan. Of course itīs great that there was the movement of teenage and homemade music --- the way many of us came into music, but if you try to sell a "Skiffle" Group nowadays, you always awake the clishee of "primitive music played by people who canīt handle their instrument". So itīs better to sell the ( SAME !! ) music under another motto, than you can play Skiffle ( whatever it means to you! ).
So itīs easier to play Skiffle than to sell it.
