I'm from Glasgow originally but currently in Toronto- a Lonnie fan (loved Denny as an enthusiastic but cr** guitar player myself.
I managed to see Lonnie for the last time at the Old Fruit Market in Glasgow in 2001- far cry from the first live sighting at the old Glasgow Empire in 1958-introduced by Des O'Connor compere/comedian but just as thrilling!
Unbeknown to me, my wife had arranged for me to meet him after the show to sign the DVD which she had bought me and left with his road manager.
I told him I had been a member of his fan club while at school in the late 50's and quick as a flash back came the ripost "Yeah and now you want your money back"
He was a very funny guy who could still come up with such a humorous response even though he looked knackered after a very stirring performance with Paul Henry backing him of course.
This site is a great idea for those of us who can look back with great fondness at a fantastic influence in our early life.
