The field for the 26th annual Daily Times/Exelon Champs ’n’ Charity Classic is set.
A total of 38 teams, 23 in the men’s slow pitch division, five in modified and 10 in the women’s bracket have signed on to be part of the annual Best by Test.
Sloppy Joe’s out of the Millennium Upland League was the last team to join the slow pitch field, which has two more teams than a year ago.
Clifton Inn had to pull out of the women’s bracket, but Dolan’s Bar jumped in to fill that void. Also, Coaches Bar & Grille from the Suburban Women’s Slow Pitch B Division was not listed in the women’s bracket. Sorry about that, ladies.
That’s it. The field is closed.
The tournament begins Friday, Aug. 21 and concludes Monday, Aug. 24. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
Two organizational meetings have been scheduled. The women will meet Sunday in the conference room at the Daily Times. The meeting begins at 7 p.m.
The men’s meeting is slated for 8 Tuesday night on Field 1 at Mickey Vernon Park in Marcus Hook.
Every team must be represented. Also, all rosters must be submitted and entry fees paid by those dates. Rosters can be e-mailed to 230terry@gmail.com. The roster limit is 20 players and all players must be playoff eligible from a league registered with the Daily Times.
All proceeds from the tournament benefit the American Cancer Society. Information about our fundraising efforts and to purchase raffle tickets on-line, go to www.winnerscirclegoods.com, click on the link at the top of the page and follow the instructions.
