We'll there was a nice crowd down there to see two good games last night.
First game the GT Realtors were hitting anything that was tossed at them. I think they put up a 14 run inning and they never looked back and finished game with a W . We'll that forced the IF game and both sides hit in the first and then Mushroom Painters came in and batted around 3 times in the top half of the 2nd. Noteable homeruns: Jamal hit another tape measure shot that went on top of the roof AGAIN this might of been further. DoubleD had a couple of them one that hit the other fields batting fence (that gt realtors guy almost caught) and his other was in the playground. Calvin Butcher got into the homerun contest also with a shot at the school in left field. Put it this way that school took a beating last night.
So we hung on to win like 36-20 ?
Its been sometime since I've seen the Hook League be so good in fact I gotta say talent and team wise that Hook League is the BEST AROUND and rumors are flying around that there will be some additional teams for next year and that makes this league even stronger and hopefully we can make it like it use to be UpTown and DownTown Divisions. NSA IS ALIVE AND THRIVING IN HOOK.
Last want to say is thanks to our league president James "Boog" Laird who spent alot of his personal time racking , dragging , phone calls , raising money , campaigning , and doing this all at the cost of $0 so if you see him in a bar or restaurant and you play ball in the hook maybe you think about sending over a drink or picking up his tab because without guys like him softball dies.
So with all of these teams in from hook for the Champs and Charity this year should be really exciting and its anyone's to win this year and no matter who is in the finals I gotta a feeling you are going to see alot of people down there kind of like the old days (maybe not as many) but close and that means one thing $$$ for what is really important FINDING A CURE FOR CANCER.
One last thing is our new chief of umpires Donald Kirby great job getting guys and making sure we had no forfeits because of no umps showing up. Keep up the good work.
