Thanks for the "respectful" disagree, How I feel all discussion should be approached. That said I will have to say that I feel like there is such a fine line between what you described and bad defense/avoidance. I would say I would have a hard time finding decoys with enough understanding to walk this line.
But it also depends on the dog in question and how they are wired. I have trained many dogs from the defense side, because it "spoke to their wiring" Some dogs, especially un-worked adults. It seems often, they just can not view man as prey in the beginning. But once started in defense (because in most cases, for a real dog, I would pick this to starting on a prey object, I always then try to pull them to the prey side for balance. With fight drive being the goal.
