Brian Rawlings pointed out something very important that I have neglected to share. He was looking at the muzzle photo of Bruce and I. After he went on and on about just how good looking I am, he said that I was not fighting back, and offered no resistance.
The split second before that photo was taken, I was standing up. I was hit in the center of my chest with the muzzle off a 100 pound dog, flying through the air at 30 mph. After giving me what felt like a sledge hammer, he rode me to the ground. I had no idea which way was up. Before you can fight back you must know three things for certain.
1: Where is the ground?
2: Where am I?
3: Where the hell is Bruce?
By the time those three are ascertained, my face is full of leather burns and I really want him to just call his dog out. It does not take a whole bunch of that, to go a long way for me. I could die a happy man if I never caught Bruce on a long bite again.
The only thing that makes its way to your brain at that moment, is to protect yourself as best you can, and wait for your senses to catch up with what just happened.
The next time Brian comes down, he and Bruce can take my new full face protection helmet, on it's maiden voyage.
