Hey, Mr. McCallum! Thanks for taking a minute to reply to my post.
I feel compelled to clarify what I intended to ask, in my earlier post. When I said the A/D should engage the dog, if the dog obeyed the A/D's "command", I meant "slap the snot out of him, with a whip (or length of hose), and run away... thereby creating a "loss" for the dog. I cannot imagine a dog viewing that as a reward, in any sense.
If you listen to the bad guy, bad things happen.
I used a similar technique on my dog, with sweet talk. The A/D tried to get the dog to let his guard down (pun intended), by sweet talking him. Baby talk, if you will. When the dog let the A/D get close enough -- the A/D slapped the snot out of the dog, and got back out of the dog's reach.
The dog was extremely displeased, to say the least. And he didn't find himself lulled into a false sense of lovey-dovey, just because someone was baby-talking to him. In fact, the dog took baby-talking as a cue for aggression... a pre-cursor, of sorts.
Herein lies my original query: would a similar technique prove applicable?
Once again, thank you, Mr. McCallum. I appreciate you taking a moment out of your day to reply.
