DP l would not get an A/D to give a command then if it is obeyed engage the dog , dogs could see this as a reward for complying and start to think there was merit in listening to the A/D. l make sure my kids and wife learn early not to give commands to any dog unless it is to be obeyed. They can interact without "asking" for compliance, because dogs here learn the home manners early. Then at strategic times here and there l get family to give various commands and see to it they are followed. The dogs there by learn, l am in charge, but certain instructions from family will be regarded as if from me. This does not need to be often , but absolute.
