We now have had two days of, off again, on again rain and very little training going on. I just thought I would put up something that has bugged me for a long, long, time. The way people are treated by IE's when they take their time and effort to share videos of their dogs with readers on line.
As some are being kind enough to share their training videos with us, and it's still raining outside, let me just get off dog topic for a minute and give you my idea of what a "Critique" should be.
Approach the critique as you would giveing someone driving directions. Sort of like this. A car pulls up as you stand at a street corner and the driver asks, "Do you know how to get to Buzz's Big Beef Bar-B-Q? I have to meet my boss ten minutes ago and I really need to get there."
You say "Normally you could get back on the interstate go to the third exit make a right and it will be on your left, But! If you need to get there quick? There is a lot of construction before you get on the Interstate that will slow you down. Turn left at the next light go to the second light, turn right. That takes you back to the interstate but past all the construction, go to the first exit it's on your left.
And they proceed.
However had they stopped to ask an Internet Expert video critiquing type person it might go like this; "Excuse me do you mind if I ask, do you know the way to Buzz's Big Beef Bar-B-Q?"
IE; Of course I do But.... let me ask YOU something first (don't you love how they answer all questions by asking another question?) How many miles you got on them front tires? They look a little thin to be on rough road?
"No, I just bought them last month. I'm kinda in a hurry, do you even know where Buzz's is?"
"Of COURSE I Due,.... but let me ask you, how much gas you got in this thing?"
"A quarter tank. Why?
"Oh that'll never get you there, not a quarter tank in a big car like this."
"So where is the nearest gas pumps?
"That's easy, turn around go to the stop sign and turn right, it's on your left"
"Thanks. So now how do I get to Buzz's from there?"
"Oh they can tell you at the gas station?"
Most of the ones that post on the internet can't tell you how to get to Buzz's anyway. They just point out negatives, many of which they make up, to make you think they know something. Kinda their minute in the spotlight.
When you drive into my state of Texas you will probably see a highway sign that says "Drive friendly, the Texas way" so remember when folks are kind enough to share their videos and photos with us, and you feel like responding, "Talk friendly the K9PS way". After all the folks around here all know how to get to Buzz's.
